Storm Surge: The Rise of Sustainability in the Deep South
STORM SURGE is a documentary film about an eclectic Team of individuals who road trip 8,000 miles from Seattle, WA to the disaster stricken communities of Joplin, MO, Tuscaloosa, AL, and New Orleans.
Armed with laptops, video cameras and a robust level of hope and optimism, the Team uses Facebook and Twitter to connect with elected officials, civic and community leaders, faith-based organizations, and social media mavens to hear first-hand stories of survival, resiliency, and recovery after a series of natural and man-made disasters - tornadoes, floods, hurricanes and oil spills - in the Mid-West and Southern U.S.
STORM SURGE is a pragmatic film that shows how these communities are implementing sustainable-design solutions that boost economic and workforce development, environmental stewardship and social innovation after major disasters.
The project is currently in its filming stage, and is to be completed in November of 2012.
